The Municipal Council of Swakopmund has declared a temporary closure of two well-frequented beaches to facilitate essential maintenance and coastal protection initiatives during this period of colder weather.
According to the municipality’s spokesperson, Linda Mupupa, the closures are part of a comprehensive coastal management strategy aimed at mitigating the growing issue of erosion driven by high seas and wave activity.
Access to the impacted beaches, located north of the Jetty along Molenweg in the Central Business District, as well as to the general beach area adjacent to the public parking at Mile 4, will be restricted until at least May 30.
