Interactive session with high-level delegation from Gabon

New Delhi, India, June 20, 2017 –

An interactive session with a high-level delegation from Gabon was organised by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry from 10:15 am onwards at the PHD House in New Delhi today.

The delegation was led by H.E. Mr. Pacome MOUBELET BOUBEYA, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Government of Gabon. H.E. Mr. Desire KOUMBA, Ambassador of Gabon in India along with other diplomats from the Embassy were also present at the occasion.

India and Gabon have traditionally enjoyed close and friendly trade relations for many decades.  Gabon, a member of the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa (CEMAC), has qualified manpower, a good banking system and Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth rate of over five percent per annum provides various opportunities for trade and investment to the Indian industry.

With the advent of Gabon Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and incentives like 10-year tax holiday and exemption from value added tax (VAT) and ease of doing business incentives, the prospects of bilateral trade and investments have grown manifolds.

Some of the major sectors of cooperation between India and Gabon include Agriculture, Education, Healthcare, Infrastructure including roads, Mining and Housing.

The Session provided an excellent opportunity for members to discuss and know about the current economic scenario in Gabon and the potential areas for bilateral economic cooperation and practical aspects of doing business between India and Gabon.

The Times of Africa had an exclusive interaction with H.E. Mr. Pacome MOUBELET BOUBEYA. On his maiden visit to India, he mentioned how the Special Economic Zones of Gabon were making doing business easier than ever before in the country.

Yesterday, he had met with his Indian counterpart, Mrs. Sushma Swaraj. The Minister told TOA that the two nations had signed two agreements pertaining to solar energy and diplomatic exchanges and that he was “very happy with the outcome of the meeting.”
