Envoys of Tanzania, Ghana, Burundi and Pakistan presented their credentials to the President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, at a ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on Tuesday (September 19, 2017).
The envoys who presented their credentials were: –
His Excellency Mr. Baraka Haran Luvanda, High Commissioner of Tanzania
His Excellency Mr. Michael Aaron Nii Nortey Oquaye, High Commissioner of Ghana
Her Excellency Mrs. Stella Bdiriganya, Ambassador of Burundi
His Excellency Mr. Sohail Mahmood, High Commissioner of Pakistan
The High Commissioner of Ghana impressed upon increasing bilateral trade between the two nations and ensured that efforts were underway to help promote export items from Ghana into India.
Notably, Ghana is the 84th largest export economy in the world while India is among the largest foreign investors in Ghana’s economy. Indian investments are primarily in the agriculture and manufacturing sectors of Ghana while Ghanaian companies manufacture drugs in collaboration with Indian companies. The IT sector in Ghana too has a significant Indian presence in it.
India and Ghana also have a Bilateral Investment Protection Agreement between them.
