Angola’s ex-president’s son, Jose Filomeno dos Santos has been accused of fraud case when he was looking after the national sovereign wealth fund. Angola’s supreme court has sentenced him to 5 years jail. He is 42 years old. He was summoned in December that he tried to embezzle $1.5 bn from the sovereign wealth fund, which he oversaw from 2013 to 2018..
According to sources he stole $500m from the fund and transferred it to a Swiss bank account. Judge Joao da Cruz Pitra said on Friday that for fraud and embezzlement law, has decided to sentence him to a single sentence of five years in prison.
