The opposition alliance of Mali has rejected a plan which was proposed by international parties which were acting as mediocre to lessen the tensions and demanding the resignation of President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita. The demand for the resignation was a major setback in efforts made by them. There was a violent clash which left 11 people dead.

On Friday, after meetings with a delegation from the 15-nation ECOWAS bloc, the June 5 Movement said the president’s resignation had been a “red line” for the mediators. After a number of protests for anti-Keita last month the latest rally on July 10 turned violent and deepened the political pressure.
