Morocco officially submits a request to rejoin African Union after 32 years indicating that it is ready to assent to African Union’s constitutive act and join as a member of the union.

The North African kingdom withdrew from the union in 1984 over the admission of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (Western Sahara) as a full member of the body.

It was the only African country that was not a member. With the application to rejoin it plans to end the decade old dispute over western Africa.
