Elon Musk grew up reading several books and was influenced in particular by science fiction. According to Ashlee Vance’s book “Elon Musk: Tesla, SpaceX, and the Quest for a Fantastic Future,” the genre led him to create “cleaner power technologies or spacecraft that extends the human species’ reach” in the future. In keeping with these objectives, Musk started SpaceX in 2002 and Tesla in 2003. And it’s now on the brink of a potentially groundbreaking launch on Saturday for SpaceX, as the company prepares the first NASA astronaut crew flight.

Based on his achievements, Musk partially recognises his opportunity when he emigrated to the United States in 1992. Musk was born in South Africa but was always keen to move to the United States. He came to North America only in June 2018 at the age of 17 with “2.000 US$, a backpack full of books.

Statements of Musk’s: “It still looked like stuff in the United States, or innovative technologies happened. As a kid, I was therefore essentially aimed at reaching America. I have paid for my way through education – through a student loan, scholarships, jobs – and ended up with student debt of $100,000. I started with my first [Zip2) venture at $2,500 and I got a machine, I bought a car and I bought it at $1,400. Musk has succeeded in spite of the difficulties. Musk sold Zip2 for about $300 million to Compaq in 1999. Musk used the money from this sale to found X.com, which merged with Confinity in 2000 and later became PayPal, an Internet financial services platform. In 2002, eBay bought $1.5 billion of PayPal. Thus, in 2016, he and Neuralink began SpaceX and Tesla and a year later, The Boring Business. According to Forbes, today’s value of Musk is $36.8 billion!
