Erstwhile President of Gambia, Yahya Jammeh would be allowed to keep the collection of his 13 luxury cars, said the spokesperson of newly elected President Adama Barrow. The agreement facilitated all the arrangements so that he could leave with all his properties, rather than coming back and checking, said the spokesperson Halifa Sallah.
An airport source said, “the cargo was being loaded with two Rolls Royce and one Mercedes Benz car, while the remaining cars awaited shipment”.
Jammeh took off with $11 million of state funds, leaving the coffers nearly empty. An “entry-level” Rolls Royce costs $250 000, and most Gambians live on less than $2 a day.
