The Buhari administration has been introducing new, high-profile infrastructure projects, but does Abuja’s new air terminal shed light on the sturdiness and quality of those projects? In December of 2018, President Muhammadu Buhari proudly established the new international departures terminal. It is situated at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport to great fanfare, confidently announcing that it might lead the way in making “Nigerian airports amongst the simplest within the world”.
Amaury Falt-Brown stated from reporting dairy:
Two years later, as I used to be flying out of Abuja, my experience at the terminal left me wondering if I used to be at an equivalent airport the president had unveiled. Going to the building of the Airport in a silver Toyota Camry, I had asked my taxi driver, Emmanuel, if he was sure we were within the right place: “It’s very dark here, and therefore the area remains under construction,” I said. Emmanuel chuckled: “This is Nigeria.”
