Nigerians have been warned by the Federal Government against desperating COVID-19 vaccine.

Boss Mustapha, the Secretary of the Government of the Federation (SGF) and COVID-19 President of the Presidential Task Force (PTF), released an alert to the Joint National Briefing of the task force on Monday in Abuja.

In his view, the PTF reassures Nigerians that no stone is left unturned for safe and successful vaccines.

“We therefore plead for patience and vigilance. We also plead with Nigerians not to procure uncertified vaccines from the black market,” Mustapha said.

He noted that the topic of vaccinations continues to influence debates in different countries worldwide and major policies and financial decisions.

The SGF also said that the ongoing COVID-19 Seroprevalence Household Survey has given preliminary results.

It is measured by gender and age group based on a fraction of asymptomatic, pre-symptomatic or subclinical influenza infections in the population of selected Lagos, Enugu, Gombe and Nasarawa states, Mustafha said.

He said, ‘The WHO protocol on seroepidemiology was carried out with SARS-COV-2, and the findings are very promising.’

The SGF also pointed out that figures indicate a steady decrease in global cases and deaths.

He said most countries have reported substantial declines but the decline in Brazil is still marginal amongst the top five, and in the region of Africa a major drop has been observed, while in South Africa there is a continuing regular decline.
