Ghana authorities are investigating the deaths of hundreds of dolphins and fish that were found on beaches lately. Authorities are concerned that contaminated fish have been sold to consumers. Between 80 and 100 dolphins and different types of fish are lying dead on beaches in Accra and near the capital’s shoreline since Friday. Officials said around 100 dead dolphins had washed up on Axim beach. Videos posted on social media showing the dead fisheries. Ghana’s fisheries commission said they have collected laboratory samples of the animals and waters while the cause remained unknown.
Dr Peter Zedah, one of the official commission said on Wednesday that with the ongoing investigation it is found that “environment” and “stress factors” had caused the deaths. Officials also asked people who had consumed the fish to become a part of their investigations, and
