Nigeria to Receive Additional 42 Million Doses of Covid-19 Vaccines

Initial doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines through the COVAX Global Assessment Facility are scheduled to be given to Nigeria at 16 million doses. 

Nigeria Minister for Health Osagie Ehanire, said Monday that, in addition to the initially planned 16 million doses, it would receive 42 million additional doses of approved COVID-19 vaccines. The initial doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines in Nigeria were estimated to be 16 millions by the end of February through the Vaccines Global Assessment Facility (COVAX). 

Mr Ehanire, speaking in the COVID-19 briefing at the Presidential Task Force, reported that the African Union Procurement team of African Vaccines would deliver the country with 42 million doses (AVATT). Nigeria has subscribed to two multilateral networks for vaccine access, first of all the COvax facility set up in 92 Low- and Middle-Income countries to divide over one billion doses of vaccine.
