The Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries has announced that a satellite monitoring system of fishing vessels over 15 metres was put into an operation.
This system is predicated on three complementary components, namely a central computing system at the ministry, 50 central and native control rooms and terminals ensuring the transmission of knowledge concerning the situation and activities of vessels while guaranteeing confidentiality. These terminals are going to be installed in 874 vessels, the ministry added that sea equipment manufacturers are liberal to choose suitable terminals in compliance with rules of competition.
The ministry laid emphasis on the importance of this closed-circuit television in optimising the security of fishermen and vessels and combating illegal fishing which threatens seafood wealth and therefore the sustainability of the world. This technique also provides a database for research project programmes on monitoring the exploitation of fishing sites. it’ll help reduce the prices of naval surveillance, address illegal fishing and protect small fishermen against losses.
The Ministry is functioning to line up a computing system dedicated to sea fishing and aquaculture to make sure better services for fishermen and equipment manufacturers and streamline human and financial resources.
