Protests came on roads for lack of jobs in Tunisia’s southern city of Tataouine, On Monday, clashes continued in the city for a second straight day. Police in the city has fired tear gas to disperse protesters throwing stones at them and blocking roads, as demonstrations became more violent over high unemployment and the release of an activist escalated.

Demonstrators have been summoning the government to establish a deal to create jobs in oil companies and infrastructure projects to reduce unemployment as done in the year 2017 which is now running at 30 per cent in the region, one of the highest rates in Tunisia.

“The situation is dangerous in our area. I could see the protesters from my window and they were shouting that we will not give up, we want our right to development and jobs.” a witness told the sources.
