President Félix Tshisekedi of the DRC took over the leadership of the African Union for a year. After Saturday’s AU 34th Summit, he replaces his South African counterpart, Cyril Ramaphosa. However, the coronavirus pandemic is hitting health services and economics in Tshisekedi this year.
Cyril Ramaphosa posted on Twitter that “As we hand over the baton to the DRC, we are determined to continue working with President Tshisekedi to ensure that Africa becomes an integrated continent, politically united, based on the ideals of Pan-Africanism & the vision of African renaissance.”
