Nigeria Governors’ Forum Lists Conditions for $72m World Bank Grant

The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has proposed a list of conditions for a $72m grant from the World Bank. They say states should be able to update their property records before June 30, 2021, to capture at least 50% of the property that have electricity connections in urban areas will each ensure $2million in performance grant under the World Bank-funded States Fiscal Transparency, Accountability and Sustainability (SFTAS) Program for Results. 

Also, NGF said a statement on Wednesday that these updates can tell the information about the name of the owner/occupier, size of the land parcel, size of the building, use of the land/property amongst other criteria required by the programme. The statement said States are at varying stages of the deployment of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Technology to strengthen land administration and said that Kaduna, Kogi, Lagos, Oyo, Nasarawa, and the Gombe States are leading the way.
