On Sunday President of Mali Ibrahim Boubacar Keita came face to face with the leader of a protest movement Mahmoud Dicko. The protest brought thousands of people onto the streets, the presidency authorities said. It was the first official meeting to be held between the two of them since the protest was initiated. A video was posted on the presidency’s Twitter account showing the meeting between President Keita and Dicko, an imam person who is the so-called leader of the June 5 Movement, in the capital Bamako on Saturday.
Thousands of people have been forced to flee their homes since 2012 due to the protests. They embarked on frustration over continuous attacks by armed groups and interethnic controversies. In the video, Dicko said that they had talked about the crisis and with the support of everyone they will get a way out.
