The German Embassy will outsource the Schengen visa application process to a service provider (TLS Group S.A.) with a Windhoek-based Visa Application Center (VAC) starting on 2 March 2020.

In Schengen visa matters, Germany represents Belgium, France, Greece, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland and Hungary, in compliance with the European Visa Code. Therefore, as of 2nd March 2020, Schengen visa procedures for those countries will also be conducted at the VAC.

The VAC will be located in Unit 3, Mozart Square, 4-8 Storch Street, Namibia, Windhoek. The opening hours for issuing visa applications and picking up passports at the VAC will be from 09:00 to 16:00 Monday-Friday. Detailed information on the VAC visa application and online appointment booking procedure will be provided on the TLS website, which will be accessible as of February 2020: https:/de.tlscontact.com/na/wdh/index.php

TLS will grant appointments within two working days for visa applications. According to the European Visa Code, the processing time for a visa application may take up to 15 consecutive days. However, once the Embassy has agreed on the application, applicants will be immediately informed for collection by TLS. Once the application is submitted, a TLS service fee is payable in addition to the visa fee.  Detailed information on fees and various additional services provided by TLS to applicants can be found on the above-mentioned website, including assistance in filling out the forms, copy service facilities, passport picture taking, etc.

Requirements for Schengen visas will be accepted at the German Embassy in Windhoek until 28 February 2020. The national visa application process (long-term stay in Germany) will begin at the German Embassy Windhoek. National visa applicants need to book an online rendezvous through the online booking system of the Embassy. General information regarding visa applications and the online appointment system can be found on the Embassy website: https:/windhuk.diplo.de/na-en/service
